Summary – The Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation’s mission is to foster an awareness of understanding of the early history, settlement, and development of the United States through the convergence of American Indian, European, and African cultures, and the enduring legacies bequeathed to the nation. The Foundation is dedicated to being an impactful institution that is engaging while exploring more complex elements of our shared history through visitor experiences, public programs, exhibitions, and digital content.
Responsibilities – Museum Educators are responsible for presenting accurate, interactive structured education tours and programs in support of the mission and strategic goals of the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation. Museum Educator IIs are core wage staff (750 hours annually), responsible for program leadership, maintenance of supplies/kit inventories and providing quality programming for students of all ages.
Minimum Qualifications
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Knowledge of or interest in 17th/18th century history and how it relates to today
• Knowledge of or interest in current educational methodologies
• Excellent customer service skills
• Enjoys working with a diverse population of adults and children
• Ability to learn and apply new information in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Knowledge of or interest in program development
