Position Title - Buildings & Grounds Associate 

Compensation - $16 - $20/hour 

Job Type - Full-time; Non-Exempt. Standard weekly schedule is Wednesday – Sunday

Summary - The Buildings & Grounds Assistant provides repairs and efficiently and economically maintains museum facilities and grounds to meet conservation, preservation, and comfort needs. 

Job Responsibilities -

  • Regularly maintain the care and repair of museum-owned facilities and equipment, including but not limited to, landscaping, signage, lighting, and guest facilities
  • Assist with preventative maintenance tasks on museum-owned facilities and equipment as prescribed by manufacture specifications, code requirements and/or industry standards in a timely manner with limited supervision
  • Respond to and perform staff generated work requests
  • Provide on-call response to emergencies
  • Assist management and staff with special projects as directed
  • Assist Security and Facility Services departments as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned 

Qualifications -

  • Knowledge of the methods, materials and equipment used in planting, cultivating, and trimming a variety of types of trees, shrubs, ground cover, flowers and grasses
  • Awareness of building operation systems
  • Familiar with building blueprints, equipment schematics and other instructional manuals
  • Demonstrate mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time and to perform manual duties to include climbing, bending, stooping, pushing and pulling
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs
  • Good customer service skills 
  • Previous groundskeeping experience
  • Possess mechanical ability in plumbing, electrical, mechanical, or related field
  • Interest in commercial maintenance building operations
