Educational Offerings
Education is at the core of our mission. Take your group or students on a field trip through 16,000 years of Virginia history with a visit to the Virginia Museum of History & Culture, book a virtual HistoryConnects program with one of our educators and let us visit you, or participate in a project-based research opportunity in your class! We offer educational opportunities and programs for all ages!
HistoryConnects:
HistoryConnects programs are interactive, primary-source based historical explorations that highlight treasures of the Virginia Museum of History & Culture's collections while reinforcing both national and state standards of learning.
Field Trips:
All on-site programs are FREE and designed with current VDOE Standards of Learning in mind. Choose from a menu of SOL-based programs that focus on themes found in your classroom or create a unique program tailored to your group’s individual needs.
Virginia History Day:
Virginia History Day is a project-based learning opportunity for students conducted in conjunction with the National History Day Contest. All research projects must related to a broad annual theme but can be tailored to any curriculum and serve as a performance assessment.
Professional Development:
Take advantage of our Professional Development opportunities for recertification points in-person or online.
