Partner with VCSS for a Summer Program!
Good morning VCSS partner organizations,
It’s almost VCSS Summer Field Trip Season, and we want to plan a field trip with your organization!
Since 2022, VCSS has partnered with museums and educational institutions across the Commonwealth to offer these free/low-cost professional development opportunities for educators during the summer. Each field trip consists of a full or half day experience at a museum, historic site, or an educational institution and is typically followed by a happy hour either on-site or at a nearby restaurant.
Examples of previous field trips include:
- A full day experience at George Washington’s Mount Vernon focusing on the lives of the enslaved community. The field trip included site tours, lunch, a pedagogical session with access to free classroom resources, and a reception at the Mount Vernon restaurant. (Free)
- A half day trip to the Poe Museum focusing on incorporating Edgar Allen Poe into humanities classrooms. The field trip included a site tour, interactive group activities that could be reproduced in the classroom, and an UNhappy hour in the beautiful garden. ($5)
