Compensation – The Museum is currently an all-volunteer operation with a budget that accommodates rent and related expenses. However, the Board welcomes a candidate who will grow the fundraising program (with Board support) making director compensation possible in the future.

Summary – The Executive Director’s (ED) primary responsibility is to recruit, manage and support volunteer docents to staff the museum during operating hours. The ED must be present at the museum at least 10 hours per week, remote work for other hours is possible. Other priorities for the ED include administrative duties such as monitoring museum email and social media inquiries, processing accounts payable and receivables, updating constituent databases, promoting the museum’s Speaker Series, and informing Board members about donor relations opportunities. 

Responsibilities –

• Manage volunteer hours and assignments sufficient to maintain open hours to the public, as determined by the board.
• Manage organization communications via email, phone messages, and social media sites.
• Manage mail and correspondence including donations and billing.
• Coordinate and consolidate constituent information from various origins into one central database.
• Collaborate with Board members on promotion of the Speaker Series, fundraising campaigns and marketing opportunities.
• Monitor museum operations with particular attention to the condition and security of the collection on display and in storage.
• Support the Board’s monitoring of the operating budget with updated reports on revenue and expenses.
• Serve as the principal spokesperson in absence of or in conjunction with the Chairman.
