Event Details
This class will introduce students to the unique traits and challenges of historic house museums and sites. We will cover the history of historic houses in the United States, and their purpose of exhibiting the everyday life of people in the past. We will review issues related to preservation and interpretation of these unique museums. Lastly, we will look at what the future holds for historic houses.
The class will be taught by VAM's Executive Director, Jennifer Thomas.
This course, one of John Tyler's 5 week short courses, counts toward VAM's Certificate in Museum Management; attendees (for this course you need to register through John Tyler) can earn 2 credit in our certificate.
