Summary - We are seeking a qualified individual to serve in a frontline leading role, working with leadership in the guidance of delivering engaging, educational experiences to a diverse public through the use of historical content, various teach ing methodologies and material culture. This position will coordinate daily programming within the maritime site while leading a team of interpreters that work collaboratively to deliver a broad range of interpretive experiences and mate rials for intergenerational audiences with a focus on the experiences of the mariners and colonists in early 17th centu ry Virginia, with ability to incorporate all three cultures.

  • Ability to write and develop, implement, evaluate, and revise inquiry based and dialogic education programs.
  • Experience with staff development and training, team building, and ability to work productively and collaboratively with all levels of management and staff.
  • Enthusiasm and skill for presenting and engaging with a wide range of audiences
  • Ability to demonstrate and foster empathy amongst colleagues and visitors
  • Effective speaking, presentation, and active listening skills
  • Demonstrated strength in managing time, completing tasks, and being proactive, accountable, and adaptable with competing demands on attention and changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Knowledge of museum educational techniques, historical content, re search, and teaching methodologies.
  • Ability to work outdoors, wearing provided reproduction historical clothing in all weather conditions, while ensuring safety guidelines related to the ship and all activities while on board are followed.
