Summary - The Children’s Museum is searching for Facilities and Exhibits Manager to help us achieve our mission of inspiring growth in all children by engaging families in learning through play. This is a full time position with benefits that reports to the Director of Operations.

Responsibilities - This position is responsible for the direction of the maintenance and improvement of all areas and facilities and the direction of the Exhibit and Facilities Team to include mentoring, developing, and scheduling. This position manages vendor contracts and relationships. The Facilities and Exhibits Manager maintains and repairs exhibit components including assisting with quarterly safety or maintenance checks, maintains records, tests new and repaired components, and helps install and de-install the museum’s changing exhibits. This position also performs facility repair and daily maintenance of all facilities as needed and supports on and off site events to include installs, break downs, sound systems, décor, tents, stages, and lighting.

Competencies: Candidates should have a demonstrable passion for the mission and work of the Museum and a strong desire to make a difference in their community. Successful candidates will have strong communication and interpersonal skills and have the ability to work with others from diverse backgrounds. Candidates should have excellent problem solving abilities and be energized, enthusiastic, and focused on providing world-class customer service.

 Skills and Abilities: Experience in light construction or similar trade and five or more years in a facilities role is required. Experience with HVAC, electrical, or plumbing work is highly desired. Experience working with exhibits in a Museum space or creating sets in a theatre space would be ideal. At least two years’ experience managing a team is required. 

Candidates should have a valid unrestricted driver’s license with clean driving record and the ability to pass a background check. This position requires extensive walking, standing, heavy lifting up to fifty pounds, and use of tools. Occasional night or weekend hours may be required.
